A pensioner was attacked and tied up in her own home in an aggravated burglary in Doncaster.

Detectives are investigating the incident that happened at around 4.45pm on Thursday.

The woman entered her home in the Thorne Road area and is believed to have been followed in by two men wearing balaclavas while she deactivated the security alarm.

Detective Sergeant Mary O’Shea said: “After the men had entered, one of them then pushed her to the floor and tied her hands, before stealing a number of items and then fleeing the scene.

“The woman is incredibly shaken following the terrifying ordeal she has been through and is receiving support from officers.

“If you were in the Thorne Road area between 4pm and 5pm on the day of the incident, either parked in your car getting ready to leave work or travelling on the road either away from, or heading into town, I would urge you to think back as to whether you noticed anything unusual or any suspicious behaviour, as even the smallest piece of information could prove vital to the investigation.”
