Pensioner taken to hospital after fire

A pensioner was taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation after a pan of oil he left on his hob caught fire.

The man, aged in his 80s, had left the pan unattended at his home on Hardcastle Gardens, Woodhouse, Sheffield.

Firefighters were called to the property on Sunday, at 6.45pm.

The incident has been logged by the fire service as accidental.
