Pensioner on mobility scooter killed in collision on pelican crossing in Sheffield

A pensioner in a mobility scooter was killed as she crossed a Sheffield road on a pelican crossing.

Police said the 77-year-old, from Sheffield, was crossing Broad Lane when she was struck by a red Mazda RX 8, driven by a 50-year-old man who was travelling towards the Brook Hill roundabout.

The injured pensioner suffered fatal head injuries.

Witnesses or anyone with information should call South Yorkshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 570 of October 16.
