Pensioner hurt after motorbike crash in suburb

a PENSIONER suffered serious injuries after the motorbike he was riding was involved in a collision on a Sheffield road.

The 74-year-old, from Firth Park, was travelling along Firth Park Road, towards Shiregreen, when his 250cc black Yamaha SR was involved in a smash with a green Land Rover Freelander.

It was driven by a 23-year-old man from Firth Park, who was turning left.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said the elderly biker was knocked to the ground and suffered serious injuries to his leg.

After the collision, the pensioner was taken to the Northern General Hospital for treatment, where he remained yesterday.
