Pensioner dies after motorbike crash in South Yorkshire

A pensioner who was riding a motorbike has died after a crash with a car in South Yorkshire.

The 65-year-old was driving down Worrygoose Lane in Whiston, Rotherham, when his yellow Honda motorcycle and a silver Vauxhall Zafira collided yesterday afternoon.

He was taken to Northern General Hospital, where he died a short time later.

South Yorkshire Police have appealed for witnesses to the collision, which they said happened close to the junction with Greystones Road at around 12.50pm.

They said specialist officers were supporting the man's family following his tragic death.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or saw either vehicle beforehand is asked to call police on 101, quoting incident number 553 of February 18.

Police are currently investigating the collision and specialist officers are providing support to his family at this difficult time.
