A SOUTH Yorkshire nurse proved her martial arts skill when she was promoted to the status of taekwondo black belt Third Dan.
Karen Moody, aged 41, from Penistone, has now been chosen to work at the Olympics as a volunteer.
Taekwondo is an Olympic sport and the four days of competition will take place at the ExCel Exhibition Centre.
Karen’s success at kicking, punching and smashing her way to victory is in contrast to her work as an intensive care sister at Barnsley District General Hospital.
She started taekwondo as a teenager and was a successful competitor in the sport before her young family arrived.
Karen travelled to Mansfield to take the black belt exam, which included breaking boards with spectacular kicks.
