Pedestrian sustains serious injuries in Sheffield crash

A 47-year-old Sheffield man has been left with serious injuries, after being hit by a car as he walked across a pedestrian crossing in the early hours of this morning.

The incident occurred shortly after 3am on the northbound carriageway of Hanover Way as a black coloured Audi A6 car, which was travelling towards the Brookhill Roundabout, struck the man as he was walking across the pedestrian crossing, shortly before the junction with Broomspring Lane.

At this stage the lights on the crossing are believed to have been green for traffic but police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward.

The injured man was taken to the Northern General Hospital with a multiple injuries. He remains in a critical but stable condition today.
