Pedestrian left fighting for life

A WOMAN left fighting for life after she was hit by a car as she crossed a road two weeks ago remains poorly in hospital.

The 44-year-old was crossing the A61 Wakefield Road in Barnsley when she was struck by a black Honda CRV near Newstead Road.

She sustained a head injury and broken pelvis.

A 44-year-old man she was with, who was also hit by the vehicle, suffered a broken leg.

The injured woman is being treated at Sheffield’s Northern General Hospital.

Police arrested the Honda driver - a 53-year-old Barnsley man - on suspicion of dangerous driving.
