A pedestrian has suffered life-threatening injuries after he was struck by a car in Sheffield in the early hours.
The collision involving a man aged between 30 and 40 and a black Ford Focus happened on Sheaf Street at 1am yesterday morning.
Police said the man was taken to hospital with life-threatening head injuries.
The road was closed for several hours while police carried out enquiries at the scene but it re-opened just before 6am.
A 53-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.
Anyone with information about the collision is asked to call South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 26 of December 4.
