Pedestrian attacked after Doncaster collision

A pedestrian struck by a car in a Doncaster street was then attacked by the driver of the vehicle involved.

South Yorkshire Police said the 33-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman were hit by a silver Peugeot 300 in Carr Hill, Balby, at 5.45am on Saturday, January 9.

The driver of the Peugeot then got out of the car and assaulted the male pedestrian.

A 25-year-old man arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm has been released on bail.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: “The man and woman both suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries and were taken to hospital.

“An investigation is underway and the 25-year-old driver of the Peugeot has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. He has been bailed pending further police enquiries.

“Were you in the area at the time? Did you witness the collision?”
