Pedalling for fire charity

SOUTH Yorkshire firefighters have thanked a team of cyclists from Barnsley who raised more than £500 on a charity bike ride.

The team, from Gawber Road Working Men’s Club, braved heavy rain and driving winds to cycle over fifty miles raising 546.

They started at Barnsley Hospital, taking in Elsecar Heritage Centre and then on to Dunford Bridge before returning to Gawber.

The money raised will go to the Fire Service National Benevolent Fund, a charity which supports injured firefighters and their families.
