The Peak District National Park’s 63rd birthday has been celebrated by internet giant Google.

The park, which is the first in the UK to use the Google Trekker camera backpack to capture its landscapes on Google Street View, was honoured with a celebratory doodle on the search engine’s home page.

Jim Dixon, chief executive of the Peak District National Park Authority, said: “As the world now increasingly uses the Google search engine to go about its business, being selected to be a doodle is very prestigious.”
