Peak District horse riders, cyclists and walkers given alert of works

Have your say

Cyclists, walkers and horse-riders are asked to be careful on the Monsal Trail in the Peak District for the next four weeks due to maintenance work on lighting in several tunnels.

Work takes place in all four former railway tunnels on the route but the trail, near Bakewell, will remain open with reduced levels of lighting.

Cyclists must dismount where contractors are working, and all trail users will need to divert slightly onto ballast at the side of the trail to get around the moveable platform.

Work begins on Friday and involves Headstone, Litton, Cressbrook and Chee Tor tunnels.
