A DAY of fun activities in the Peak District is being organised for disadvantaged children.

The Peak District Mountain Rescue Organisation, along with the Derbyshire Cave Rescue Organisation and the Search and Rescue Dogs Association of the Peak District, is organising a high ropes course, climbing and abseiling, cave exploration, search dog training, mock rescues and hiking.

The event takes place on Friday, July 22, for youngsters helped by Centrepoint, Wellchild, and the Child Bereavement Charity - all organisations affiliated to Prince William, who is Patron of Mountain Rescue England and Wales.

Neil Roden, of Peak District Mountain Rescue, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to create a unique day out for these young people and their families.”
