Party's £1,000 for flood victims

MORE than £1,000 was raised for flood relief at Bentley's Party in the Park.

Organisers North Doncaster Development Trust, who have now counted up the takings, say the event raised 1,024.16 for South Yorkshire Community Foundation’s Flood Relief appeal, and more is expected to come from auctions and sales of a planned DVD.

Between 150 and 170 people attended the event at various times during the day.

Organisers are still awaiting the outcome of the online auction at www.northdoncaster.org.uk of a guitar donated from Selection (UK) Ltd, and a signed Doncaster Rovers Ball and T-shirt. The winner of the day’s talent contest was Lucy Barker a teenager who won a trophy and 150 in Electro Music vouchers. Second prize went to Francesca Riley who won a trophy and 50 of HMV Vouchers, and in third place was Rebecca Emmas who won a trophy and 25 in WH Smith vouchers.

The trust behind the show say a DVD of the event was filmed and will be soon be on sale to raise further funds for the flood relief appeal.

The acts who appeared on the main stage were John Parr, Creations, Black Shades, The Torn, Funk Rock, No Fears, Dancing Like me Dad, The ID10T and the Scoleri Brothers.
