Green-fingered volunteers spruced up a Sheffield park to keep it tidy for local residents.

Workers from environmental firm Veolia helped prune, weed and plant the sensory gardens at High Hazels Park in Darnall.

The 15 volunteers also dug out overgrown shrubs and tidied the flower beds during the morning of gardening, organised by the Friends of High Hazels Park.

Paul Campbell chairman of the friends group, said the event had been a success.

He said: “The team’s contribution will make a big impact for our visitors.”
