PROTESTERS leading the campaign to save children’s centres in Sheffield are set to deliver a petition to council bosses.
More than 9,000 signatures have been collected in support of Save Sheffield Early Years, which is calling for a rethink of proposals to cut services in the city.
The council is consulting with the public over plans to withdraw subsidies from 20 early years childcare providers following a reduction in government funding. Campaigners will present the petition to Coun Jackie Drayton outside Sheffield Town Hall this afternoon, ahead of the full debate on February 6.
Mum Claire Smith said: “I was amazed and pleased to find so many people wanted to sign.”
