Sheffield panto star Ian ‘H’ Watkins has received a public apology over the mistaken use of his photograph on a news website reporting Lostprophets singer Ian Watkins admitting serious sex offences.

A judge in London heard the musician and actor, known as ‘H’ from his time in pop band Steps, had already been ‘receiving abuse as a result of people confusing the two men’, before the photograph error.

H, aged 37, who is starring in Jack and the Beanstalk at Sheffield’s Lyceum Theatre this Christmas, received an apology yesterday from E! Entertainment Television, a US firm which operates TV channel E! and website E! Online, covering celebrity news.

Former Lostprophets singer Watkins, 36, was jailed for 35 years on Wednesday for a string of child sex offences.
