Pair jailed for robbing man with learning difficulties in Barnsley

Two robbers have been jailed for targeting a man with learning difficulties in a Barnsley street.

Neil Bamford and Terri Hodson robbed a 45-year-old man as he walked home after withdrawing cash from the post office in Athersley North last October.

Bamford and Hodson, both of North Royds Wood, Athersley, threatened and assaulted the victim, before stealing his wallet.

"They selfishly and callously took advantage of that, subjecting him to an ordeal which left him incredibly shaken and scared.

"Not only that, but the incident left the victim’s family incredibly upset as well. I am pleased that they both admitted their guilt and the man was not forced to give evidence in court, something he was worried about."Everyone involved in this case has worked incredibly hard to get it before the courts and I’m pleased that they have both been given time in prison for what they did to him."
