Pair jailed over caravan thefts

TWO men have been jailed for stealing caravans in Rotherham and Doncaster.

Shaun Merchant, aged 45, of Craven Road, Dunscroft, Doncaster, admitted taking a caravan from outside a house on Woodsetts Road, Gildingwells, Rotherham, in August.

Sheffield Crown Court heard the vehicle and caravan were located close to the property and Merchant was arrested.

He was jailed for two years,

Forty-year-old Dean Nicholson, of Wharf Road, Doncaster, admitted stealing a caravan from outside a property on Osborne Road, Todwick.

A witness reported a vehicle towing the caravan away.

Officers and the force helicopter quickly located the caravan in Goldthorpe, Barnsley and Nicholson was arrested.

He admitted the theft at Rotherham Magistrates’ Court and was jailed for 21 weeks.
