This was the devastating scene which greeted a car owner when he returned to his parked vehicle on a Sheffield street.
Joshua Daniels said paint stripper was poured over his Audi A5 while it was parked on Edmund Road in the early hours of Thursday, May 10.
He said the vandals have caused around £5,500 worth of damage after the chemical removed paint from almost of the car's panels.
Joshua, 26, said: "I go to see my girlfriend who lives at Charlotte Court and parked there overnight but I don't always park in the same bay or anything like that.
"I've no idea whatsoever as to why it happened or why anyone would do it."
Joshua, of Barnsley, said he had seen CCTV footage at a nearby shop which showed two men acting suspicious around his car at around 3.30am that morning.
He added: "I got to my car at about 5.30am on the Thursday and I just couldn't believe it. I was in complete disbelief and then I just shouted every swear word known to man, I was so angry."
Joshua said he had been told by his insurers that the repair would be logged as a 'fault claim' and therefore see his insurance premium increase in price.
He said: "I would ask anyone who saw anything suspicious or who has any information to contact police."
Anyone with any information should call police on 101, quoting incident number 116 of May 10.
