Sheffield Wednesday put an almighty dent in QPR’s promotion aspirations with a terrific 3-0 defeat of Harry Redknapp’s side at Hillsborough midweek for a result that should give Stuart Gray’s side the platform to land a top half finish.

The Owls blitzed Birmingham 4-1 at the weekend and go to the Keepmoat bidding for a third successive win against a Doncaster Rovers side that is slowly but surely growing in confidence in the Championship.

Rovers held Nottingham Forest to a goalless draw at the weekend and are unbeaten in their last three after home wins over Huddersfield and Watford. Rovers have managed to build a five point cushion between them and those in the bottom three but are underdogs to beat Wednesday, the 6/4 favourites with BetVictor, Doncaster 21/10 and the draw 12/5.

Both sides arrive in good form and it would be no surprise to see each side cancel the other out and the 1-1 correct score at 11/2 with BetVictor, with the draw half-time/full time double result making similar appeal at 4/1.

Whilst Wednesday and Rovers continue in good fettle in the Championship, Barnsley flounder and slumped to the foot of the table after a 3-0 defeat to Watford at Vicarage Road on Saturday.

Despite Yeovil claiming a last- gasp equaliser at Wigan both the Glovers and the Tykes are 6/4 joint-favourites to finish bottom of the pile and with Charlton, Doncaster and Millwall nicking points in the week Barnsley remain 1/5 favourites for the drop.

Manager Danny Wilson knows time is ticking at Oakwell and a result against Bournemouth is vital to the Reds’ chances of survival; Barnsley 23/10, the Cherries 13/10 and the draw 12/5. Barnsley have put in good efforts at home and should be good for at least a point. They are good value at 11/8 in the ‘Draw no bet’ market.

League One has the hottest side in Britain with Sheffield United’s ascent. Champions-elect Wolves arrive at Bramall Lane and look to be wobbling.

BetVictor make Wolves 13/10 favourites but given the home side’s form it is hard not to be tempted in with a home win at 9/4, the draw 23/10.

Rotherham have their promotion credentials tested with the trip to Peterborough who are 6/4 favourites, Rotherham 9/5 and the draw 12/5 with the both teams to score bet looking a fair price at 13/20.
