Trainers will this year be battling it out to scoop the BresMed Northern Sprint Final’s £8,000 prize fund when the dogs take to the track at Owlerton Greyhound Stadium live on Sky Sports.

The festival’s heats and semi-finals have already taken place and only the fastest dogs are set to vie for the lucrative top prize.

John Gilburn, managing director at Owlerton Greyhound Stadium, said: “The Northern Sprint was resurrected last year by BresMed and it proved hugely popular, so it’s fantastic to see it back at Owlerton.

“We have seen some incredibly fast times in the heats so we could be set for a track record in the final. This means it’s set to be a nail-biting race with some of the best dogs in the country and we look forward to seeing them battle it out for the coveted £8,000 prize.”

Nic Brereton, managing director at BresMed and owner of greyhound Geelo Racing, said: “After the success of last year’s event at Owlerton Greyhound Stadium, BresMed is proud to sponsor the BresMed Festival once again.

“As I greyhound enthusiast myself I have raced my dogs in Sheffield for a number of years, so it’s been fantastic to have brought back the race and see it becoming more lucrative and high profile than ever.”
