Outdoor City turning into Outcast City
Along with national and international news coverage of the tree felling, Sheffield has now not been included in the Sunday Times best places to live in the UK explicitly because of the ‘bitter battle’ between the council and tree campaigners.
This is not what we want our city to be known for; we are the incubator of world- famous musicians, home to world-class universities and the greenest city in Europe.

Hide AdSheffield City Council spends millions celebrating, promoting and marketing these things. The latest campaign is Sheffield as the Outdoor City, a title we rightly deserve.
Councillor Julie Dore and her colleagues need to wake up and realise just how much damage this ongoing dispute is costing the city – both nationally and internationally.
I urge her once again to stop the current tree felling that is taking place in the city and to hold talks with tree campaigners to bring an end to the destruction of our green heritage.
I believe Sheffield is the best place to live in the UK and at the moment rather than being the Outdoor City we are fast becoming the Outcast City.
