Organisers issue update on Endcliffe Park Duck Race after heavy snow falls in Sheffield

Organisers have issued an update on the Endclife Park Duck Race after heavy snow fell in Sheffield this morning.

The 10th Annual Great Easter Duck Race was due to start at 2pm sharp today amidst a range of stalls and activities at the park.

However, fears were raised that the event would have to postponed after heavy snow fell from around 6am this morning causing travel chaos.

Despite the weather, organiser Mile Malliwell has confirmed that the event will still be held with the race due to start at 2pm.

Morning events have been delayed by an hour, Mr Malliwell said.

Hundreds of Sheffielders expected to turn out for the now traditional Easter race, which will raise money towards the £400,000 restoration of Forge Dam.

As well as the race, there will be an Easter Bonnet parade and competition, dog show and agility programme, plant, cake and book stalls, and much more.

The day, organised by Riverlution, will be rounded-off with prizes being given out for the winning ducks at 3pm.

Ducks for the race, will be available from Endcliffe Park Cafe, Forge Dam Cafe, and The Famous Sheffield Shop, at £1 each. Ducks are also available in the park, on the day itself, from 10am. Visit www.fopv.org.uk for details.
