Opportunity knocks at local centres

Council chiefs want more Doncaster people to seek fresh opportunities in their working lives by using their neighbourhood Opportunity Centres.

Anyone thinking of starting a business, finding a job, changing career or interested in training opportunities available, may be able to get help. Working with a number of other partners in Doncaster, the Opportunity Centres aim to help anyone remove barriers that may be preventing them from moving forward in their working lives.

They act as a ‘one stop shop’ for residents who may need help in writing a CV, support with finding and applying for jobs, advice about interviews, free printing and copying for job-search material, free access to computers for jobs, and access to partner organisations such as Jobcentre Outreach, financial inclusion advisers and enterprise advisors

Coun Cynthia Ransome, Cabinet Member for neighbourhoods, said: “Each Opportunity Centre is unique. They are individually designed to meet the needs of the residents in that particular neighbourhood.

“They are all very much community-focused and residents can take advantage of the services they offer without having to travel.”
