'We need to improve our city centre offering at Christmas', a Sheffield Star reader view

I always felt our Christmas market was getting tired, but shocked I was shocked about the figures that I read in the Sheffield Star on Monday, November 30.

We are number six, losing £47 million this year, which is a lot of cash to our city centre. But, when I read Manchester lost £306 million, Birmingham £187 million, London £119 million, Newcastle £91.8 million and Edinburgh £88.4 million, I felt sorry for them all.

SCC need to up there game, look at the rest for ideas and bring in more folk from everywhere to help the city economy.

In Scotland they have huge indoor xmas events, in London and other cities they have big ice rinks. Come on Sheffield, take a look at what others do and get us up that xmas centre league.

New ideas for 2021 are needed. Sixth isn’t bad but try harder.
