There have been a number of exciting advancements for the Sheffield City Region in recent months, including the £900 million devolution deal, the launch of the first tram train in Sheffield and the announcement of Flybe’s new base at Doncaster Sheffield Airport.

The devolution deal with government is an exciting development for the Sheffield City Region.

It provides us with a really solid platform from which we can look to grow our economy for the benefit of everyone.

The unveiling of the UK’s first tram train in Sheffield is a significant development, not only for our region, but the wider UK.

This represents an important step forward in dealing with the crucial issue of improving transport and connectivity within the Sheffield City Region.

In addition to this, the launch of Flybe’s new base at Doncaster Sheffield Airport is also fantastic news for us.

Transport is a key economic enabler in the growth of our economy and these initiatives should be driven forward by a collaboration of both public and private sectors.

These new projects signify growth in the region and a positive step forward.

They will create more jobs, greater connectivity, a higher quality transportation system and raise our profile within the Northern Powerhouse.
