In response to Mike Smith’s letter “We can’t afford Councillor Houghton’s leadership any longer”, what do Mr Smith and Star readers make of this recent Twitter exchange (see screenshot), between Green Councillors Peter Garbutt who had asked for action on parking issues around Millhouses, fellow Green councillor Alison Teal and Labour cabinet member for Transport Bob Johnson.

A request for a meeting with councillors from all parties, parking services and the police was met with a response from the cabinet member of “you’ll just have to wait and see” and an emoji.

When challenged on this by Coun Teal, Coun Johnson appeared to tell her to “calm down”.

Surely political figures need to be working together in the current climate, green councillors are asking how can we do this and improve things. It’s this attitude we need from councillors.
