We are all still having to get used to different ways of living, as the lockdown measures continue to change.

Our readers have had their say on if they think life can ever return to what we think of as 'normal'?

This is what some of them said.

John Crofts said: “I think that sooner or later they are going to have to draw a line and say enough is enough. If this goes on into next year they’ll be nothing left of the travel industry, all the pubs will be shut and they’ll be mass unemployment. The virus itself will be the least of the worries.”

Tim Rudland said: “As with any change there are positives and negatives. Certain things will never go back to how they were, like people working from home where they can.”

Jean Hepplestone said: “I hope so. I don’t want a world where people don’t hug each other and children are growing up not having physical contact. We are meant to be tactile and tolerant. I want to go back to a time when you don’t have to choose which family members to have over. We need to attend weddings and funerals and visit sick relatives.”

Dave Thompson, who is from Sheffield but moved to New Zealand said: “Here in New Zealand life is pretty normal with the exception of the international travel restrictions. If the rest of the world just got together with their own policies then normality wouldn't be that far away - but that won't happen.”

David Gibson said: “Maybe in another five years.”

Bev Lacey said: “I’m hoping it will because we are all so fed up. Missing our loved ones is the worst of it all. I think we've all got to be sensible but i think eventually the virus will die.”

Denise Oxley said: “We have to except this is a new normal. As a race we have to evolve. We have overcome and learnt to live with various epidemics before; measles, smallpox, main flu, swine flu and bird flu. We just need to be patient and take ownership of our own protection.”

Steve Egginton said: “The term 'new normal' is an annoying term. Nothing normal about it. Normal is watching football in our thousands, after packing the pubs for pre match drinks, without the necessity to sign a book and sit where designated before ordering a pint on our mobile phone app.”

Philip Jowett said “A vaccine or medication is the answer. Hopefully this will be available soon.”

Samantha Blade said: “No, I think it won't be long before there is another lockdown.”

Margaret Martin said: “I really really hope so. I get up every morning, switch on TV and hope and pray they say we have a vaccine for this horrible virus and soon it will be a thing of the past something to write in history books.”
