Here’s what some of you had to say.

Janet Scarll said: “It wouldn’t bother me at all but I obviously didn’t realise that Covid can’t spread before that time ... silly me. It’s already out there, people have just got to use their common sense.”

Vickie Grant said “No, it would not bother me if help save lives until there is a vaccine.”

Angela Poulsen said in times gone by pubs used to shut earlier and nobody minded.

She said: “Does anyone remember when they rang a bell for last orders? I do and it was roughly 10/10.30pm. It never bothered us then so what’s the big deal now?”

Joyce Dawson said: “No problem, it wouldn't bother me and it might be bit safer on the streets.”

Kath Beecroft, Glenda Vine, Janet Putland, Peter Ward and Zoe Royles and Amanda Pearce were among many people who commented on Facebook to say “no”.

Sherridan Louise Downs was one of many who said she believed tougher action needed to be taken.

She said: “What does shutting pubs at 10pm do? Does that mean you can't catch covid before 10pm. It’s a joke really, you may as well leave them open or shut them completely.”

Some said a curfew would not bother them, but they wondered if it might actually have a negative impact.

Glen Hitchen said: “It’s pointless, it just concentrates day drinkers and night drinkers Into one time slot and is probably counter productive.”

Some people did, however, say that the curfew would bother them.

Terry Fidler said: “It’s ridiculous. It would only mean that by shortening the hours more people will attend between the new hours. Either lock it down totally or look at a better way. Stay safe, stay sane, stay home, simples.”

Victoria Amy Foord said the curfew would unfairly impact people who weren’t able to go out earlier because of their work commitments.

She said: “Children still need an education as they are our next generation. It’s not up to the police or the government to police, it is up to us. We are all adults. Just do as you're told and things will go back to some form of normality soon enough. It’s not difficult. Some people can't go out earlier as they have full time jobs.”

Peter Walker said the curfew would have a detrimental impact on those who work in hospitality.

He said: "Yes because me and my partner work at a bar so, with furlough ending, we have no money. The people who make these rules and the people who advise will still get their wages and get their pension paid.”

Ziggy Schofield said: “10pm is an hour past my bedtime at 9 anyway, so no, it doesn't bother me.”

Denise Pegg Gervis posed an important question.

She said: “So, who’s going to pay the wages that the bar staff lose?”

April Ogden said she was worried that a curfew would have a huge impact on the economy.

She said: “It’s only a good idea if you want a lot of businesses to go bust! Already a lot of pubs have closed down so we will make it worse for them by cutting down the hours they can open. Second wave or not, keep going like this and a lot of other businesses will close too.”
