Sheffield people reveal if they would be infected with Covid-19 for vaccine trial

The UK is hoping to be the first nation to carry out studies where up to 90 healthy people will be deliberately exposed to Covid with the aim of speeding up getting a vaccine.

We asked our readers if they would be willing to take part in these trials. This is what some of them said, and while opinion was strong on both sides, the majority of people we asked said no.

Casey Adams said: “If I didn’t have young children, I would.”

Dave Hyatt said: “There won’t be any vaccine going in me.”

Claire Mallinson said: “No thanks, I’m not inflicting illness upon myself.”

Robert Stewart said he would not take part in a trial and neither would be have the vaccine when or if it is available.

Michael Peter Denton said: “If it meant carrying on with life then yes.”

Rajin Laka echoed that thought when they said: “I would if that can help us to get back to normal soon.”

Simon Lufc Morgan had a very strong opinion. He said: “Nope, not for all the money in the world.”

Sandra Davies said she wouldn’t want to take part because of health reasons. She said: “No chance. I'm diabetic.”

Lisa J Bee also said health reasons would prevent her from taking part, but added ‘if I was healthy I would, 200 per cent.”

Marie Hughes simply said ‘no way’.

Jeanne Heath had a very passionate way of expressing her opinion. She said: “No, not a cat in hells chance.”

Diana Cullen said: “No way.”
