There are millions of vehicles and trains running on petrol and diesel - reader's letter
John Bunting from Greenhill has his say on renewables
I was interested to read the two letters on renewable energy (Your views 17/4) as against fossil fuels.

They both missed the point, which is that there are millions of vehicles and trains running on petrol and diesel and millions of cookers and heaters running on gas and oil.
How does the renewables help them?
I don’t think that consumers are against renewables but they are not happy that our gas and petrol imports are affected by events in war-torn countries when there is a possible alternative until everybody has gone electric.
