Questions for council over Moor market

In response to the Cabinet statement regarding the Moor market, I would like to raise the following points:

Originally Coun Wilson assured us that any issues relating to the relocation of the market would be discussed with the representatives of Moor market traders, but yet again we were disappointed as we only received a copy of the statement five minutes before the cabinet meeting was due to commence.

Do you agree? Post your comment below.

Coun Wilson now states that Fargate has proved unacceptable as a potential site. However, we have not seen any evidence of this. In fact her statement omits to mention the positive responses received, including one from Marks and Spencer, a key retailer on Fargate who were in fact in favour of holding a trial market to assess the site.

As for intention of the council to pursue the new opportunity of retaining an outside market on The Moor, we can only hope we will not again be excluded from the consultation process.

Finally, the council should also be mindful of the adverse affects on the Moor market traders and retailers, of the current demolition already taking place and future demolition of other earmarked sites on the Moor

Would they be able to run a successful business in these conditions?
