Pub's bitter dispute

I WAS absolutely incensed after reading your piece about Coun John Hesketh's desire to have the owners of the Ship Inn, Shalesmoor "put in the stocks" and "pelted with rotten tomatoes" for the crime of erecting a small retractable awning on the side of their pub.

How does he have the audacity to make such a statement after the council’s demolition and decimation of some of this city’s most notable and historic buildings, not to mention the monstrosities they have replaced them with?
