Passenger abuse

WITH regards Bernie Smith's letter about "Tram staff stood idly by as drunk abused passengers", I have worked in public transport for nearly three years.

I have been on the minimum wage until very recently.

During my three years I have been spat at, assaulted, threatened, have people find out my address and all manner of other verbal abuse/threats just for trying to keep the system safe and free of people such as this drunk he refers to.

In all cases such as this you should contact the police and report the matter.

Conductors are not security, they are conductors.

They are customer service ambassadors for the Supertram Network. The driver coming out of his cab is a big "No-No" - what would happen if someone got inside and took the tram for a little ride?

Mr Smith, please ring the police in situations like this.

Then ring South Yorkshire Traveline and report the matter so the Transport Executive can effectively monitor all incidents such as this, in conjunction with Supertram.
