"Next slide please" - Star readers sum up the last 12 months in just three words

John Pasley is a fan of a certain delivery service; “City Grab rules!”

Nat Reaney was certainly getting into the swing of it here; “Homeschooling again.”

Sue Morris clearly remembers the government advice; “Hands… face... space.”

Beverley Caine is looking on the bright side here; “Luckily still breathing.”

And, Kelly Hume has pretty much nailed the year spot on; “Next slide please” — bravo Kelly, bravo.

Lea Burdett; “Stay at home.”

Carol Hibbins sadly had to share a loss; “Lost my husband” (Not Covid-related), as did Claire Mallinson; “Lost my mum” (again, not due to Covid), and Anne Bonneville Hurrell; “Mum not here” — our deepest condolences to you all.

Liz Parish summed it up quite neatly here; “What a nightmare!”

Jamie Revill said; “Another trip cancelled.”

Ian Turley; “Have you farted?”

Simone Ferguson; “Zoom drinks tonight?”

Brian Pybus said what many of us were thinking; “Roll on vacccines.”

Daniel Wood clearly on about another Zoom call, the bedrock of many family conversations over the last year; “Whos hosting tonight?”

Sue Simms says; “I'm a survivor” — you are, and long may that continue.

Mathew Pickering did not miss a trick, clearly he’s a fan of the; “Dramatic snow reports.”

Charlotte Ann echoes the same sentiment expressed by so many, still to this moment; “You’re on mute”, which was a sentimen shared by Joanne Johnson who said the same.

Meanwhile, Adam Brentnall asks; “Where's my pint?” — soon, Adam, soon.

Ann Marie McElearney says; “Im still here” — you most certainly are.

Dawn Deedee Thompson wrote; “We made it!”

And Aaron McLeish; “Became an author” — congratulations.

Mark Wilson has been grafting away again we presume from his comment saying; “Over time again.”

Zoë Brewster is clearly using her time wisely; “Bottle Sauvignon Blanc.” Drinking replies were quite popular, a key example being Gaynor Barnden, who said; “Pass the gin”, followed by Dawn Bartram who wrote “lots of gin.”

Mandy Millar names her fave communications method; “Zoom! Zoom! Zoom!”

John Anthony is not a fan of the nation’s current leading governing party; “Tyranny oppression, dictatorship.”

Poor Sarah Skinner echoes the sentiments of so many in this country, never mind just Sheffield, when she wrote; “Lost my job” — we wish you all the very best in finding a better new opportunity for you.

Lyndsey Randall said; “Absolute right off!”

Sarah Fenton wrote; “Appreciate my family.”Mark Davenport said; “Health is everything”, which was followed by Garry Frost’s comment; “Lost Loved Ones”, which was further impacted by Lynne McAllister’s reply; “Waste of life” — too many lives, it’s such a shame.

Matt Trcek hammers home the fact that it; “Could’ve been worse!” and Scott Kidman is adamant that we remain vigilant; “NOT OVER YET” — and he is very right.

And, Nicola Stubbs said; “Living at work” — it’s where many people’s social life (at least for now) resides.

Marie Ann Butcher said she was; “Missing my family” and Jane Griffiths is; “Missing good friends”, as is Elaine Ann Scarrott who said; “Miss seeing friends.”

There were many comments, some which we can’t really put in print but understandable nonetheless. What was most popular was that people missed spending time with one another, Zoom calls and takeaway food. Hopefully soon we can appreciate a shift back to normality. But just like Scott Kidman said, it is; “not over yet”, so stay safe, remain vigilant, and we will get through this.
