My wife is best cared for at home

ALZHEIMER'S Disease - I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. Not until you have to learn to live with it do your ealise how dreadful it is; to see someone you love brought down to a mere shadow of their being, leaves one with a heavy heart.

My wife has been so diagnosed, nothing to boast about you will appreciate but, regrettably, you have to explain the reason to some people as to the manner in which she acts. This, unfortunately, is unavoidable, as people like myself didn't know it existed until three years ago.

Authority, family and friends say she should be in some respite where she will be taken proper care of. I confess my feelings towards this is adamant: not whilst I draw breath yet, sometimes, I wonder if I am doing the right thing by her?

Then, one reads such a story: Belsen victim, August 22, page 13. and sees the sorrowful sight of such a diseased person being so treated with the very people of the nursing profession on to whom she must rely. How terrible to think such inhuman beings have such a post.

Surely, this answers well my own doubts as to where my wife is best cared for.
