Make the best of Lady's Bridge

IT is great news that Lady's Bridge is getting the refurbishment that it sorely needs. But it's a pity that the medieval bridge is hidden from view, with its beautiful stonework and the inscriptions of the men who have worked on it over the centuries.

I would love to get down under the bridge and look at it first-hand and touch the stones the medieval stonemasons put in place.

I urge the council to clear all the trees that are growing in the river bed hiding the old bridge and generally looking a complete mess. In fact, the river should be cleaned up for its full length, especially where it passes through town.

IS a postman/woman's job as difficult as it seems? On Friday, October 5 we delivered a letter to Bishopdale Rise which had been posted through our letterbox on Bishopdale Court, Ridgeway Heights, Sheffield, the previous day (the letter had the same number.).

Since that time, we have had two further wrong deliveries. One of these was for the same address on the Rise. I managed to catch the postlady and told her it was for the Rise not the Court.

She said: "They are putting all sorts in the bag. This is about the twelfth one. This is the Royal Mail for you."

To say the least, I was surprised. I thought the postman/lady's task was to post the correct letter through the correct letterbox, or is that incorrect? All explanations greatly received.
