A magical time at fair

Last Sunday, (November 29), I had the pleasure of visiting Chancet Wood Children’s Centre, who were holding their annual Christmas fair.

The centre provides residential respite care for children who are physically and multiply disabled and their annual fair helps raise funds through their cake sales, tombola, and jumble sale for activities for the children, as well as being a fun day for the children, their families and visitors.

As the local councillor, I had the honour of judging the children’s Christmas Card competition – a task which I shared with Santa, who had called in to visit.

The quality of the entries was again so good this year that this took some time to decide on the winners.

Well done to everyone who took part.

It was nice to meet the staff, children and families again after my visit to last year’s fair and I would like to thank the dedicated and wonderful team at the centre for organising such a great event.

Despite the wet and windy weather, many local people braved the elements to come out and support the children’s centre.

I look forward to next year’s event and would encourage everyone to go along and help support their great work.
