Library services in Burngreave and Tinsley are reduced to a worse possible case scenario for the populations of both areas given the demographics of both wards.

The high levels of poverty, low educational attainment and high levels of adults and children who speak English as a second language are all good reasons why both areas need a professionally staffed library service, not the second-rate, third-tier amateur service they have had to endure.

I personally think that all libraries in the city should have library staff and the failed social experiment which is volunteer libraries should be abandoned immediately, and while we are at it please could we have a professionally staffed library service reinstated in Attercliffe – we haven’t had one since 1986.
