Further to my reply to Anne Diver in a recent copy of the Star I thought it would be good to see a photo from the rededication ceremony of the memorial to the members of the Shiregreen Working Mens’ Club who served in HM forces during World War Two.

This ceremony took place on August 8, 2019, and was attended by many people and local dignitaries, including Coun Tony Downing, Lord Mayor of Sheffield, and an officer of the Royal British Legion.

The plaque is placed high on the wall so as to be not damaged by any funeral activity.

The plaque was salvaged from a builders’ skip during some work being done at the club.

The picture was kindly loaned to me by Mrs Anne Bentley, formally stewardess of the Shiregreen Working Mens Club
