Reader letter - There is a lot out there that goes way beyond our understanding

Brenda Wilkinson’s letter, Keep Talking Cathy, on October 1, was a fascinating read.

I have read about afterlife communications, visitations and so forth, and there are a lot of reports about electrical appliances doing funny things and animals behaving differently like Brenda has described.

I haven't noticed anything this dramatic, but there have been a few incidences which have left me wondering if there is something of an unearthly nature going on.

For instance, I was going a word search, which my mum used to love doing, when I noticed her name, Mary, in the grid, even though it was not on the list of words that were to be found.

I had also even been thinking of a song that was not particularly well known from the film Mamma Mia!, then discovered a slip of paper in my mum’s room on which she’d written the name of the song.

One night I was somewhat upset as I'd not seen Boris the badger for some time and was really worried that I may have lost him, as well as my mum, when these words suddenly came in to my head: “Don't worry Cathy, you'll get your badger back soon, I'll make sure of it.”

Half an hour later, I looked outside, and yes you've guessed it, my old friend was out there.

Had those words come from Mum? Had she sent him? Who knows?

On another night, when the grief was really hurting me hard, I asked Mum to give me a sign that she was there, any sign, I didn't care what, so long as it was done.

Not long after I suddenly experienced a really strong smell and taste, and realised it was the cheese and onion crisps mum used to eat by the bagful.

No doubt people will cast doubt over my observations and put them down to the fantasies of newly bereaved person who’s a bit on the desperate side.

I stand to be corrected, but at the same time, I can't dismiss my experiences and would be greatly comforted if they really were due to some kind of communication from Mum.

Brenda Wilkinson’s experiences certainly do sound like there could be some thing going on that would be harder to dismiss.

Now that I think of it, the light keeps going on and off in my bedroom, over the last few days, and a new bulb was only put in a few days ago.

Upon checking, the bulb was perfectly secure. It could be a faulty fitting, but maybe not.

Again, who knows.

Like they say, there is a lot out there that goes way beyond our understanding, for which no earthly explanation can be found.

It is the stuff that has spawned many a film and television series.

I for one, dare not invest too much hope in my experiences, but I'm not prepared to put them down to an overactive imagination either.
