Reader Letter: 'Can’t support selfishness'

Regarding The Star’s front page story on August 18, yes, the pavement is narrow, and social distancing is difficult: but we Broomhillians are managing well.

That is, all except the beggar and the Big Issue seller, who sit unmasked at the narrowest bits of the parade. There aren’t two metres between them and anyone passing.

I suspect they sit there to gain maximum attention and donations/sales.

I have remonstrated with them about wearing masks, given them freebies, begged them and occasionally bribed them to wear them. No joy.

Time they were moved on. I’m all for exercising charity and I’ve done my best to practise it, but their selfishness is insupportable.

They and not the width of the pavement are the big public hygiene problem.
