'Masking the problem' - a reader letter about fask coverings on public transport

The first time on a bus since lockdown, so I must wear a face mask.

No problem, as I don’t have health problems I can wear one.

I get on the bus, we are all complying with the new rules, but there’s always one isn’t there…

A man gets on, no mask.

“You need to wear a mask, mate, to travel.”

“Why?”

“It’s the new rules to fight the virus.”

The disgruntled passenger then says a few swear words.

“It’s wear one, or you can’t come on,” says the driver.

The man says: “I have lung problems, I have trouble breathing, I don’t wear one.”

What’s the driver to do, ask for medical note?

So the aggressive man comes on board chuntering as he walks up the bus, ‘I am not wearing a mask for no-one’.

So there’s the problem, some will comply and others have had no intention of helping the fight all along.
