I have been pointing out to the council for some time now the inadequacies of the blue bins, including that they are top heavy.

Well, on Sunday during the gale, mine blew over. I would be surprised if I were the only householder to whom this happened.

The black and brown ones stood up against the winds.

I repeat that it is only a matter of time before somebody is injured.

Speaking frankly, the blue bins constitute a cheapskate leftover from the previous system that we had.

As well as being top heavy, they are too small for four weeks’ paper waste, as a recent correspondent pointed out.

It is time that the council and Veolia faced up to this.
