You frequently ask how Sheffield City Centre can be improved. Several people in the past have suggested looking towards independent stores and a report on last week’s Calendar seemed to support that thought.

There is a shopping mall in Cleckheaton that has just been renovated that caters for mainly independent stores and it is doing really well, so maybe someone from the council needs to get in touch and ask them what their secret to success is. I think that would be ideal for Chapel Walk and maybe even Fargate.

Also I think it is essential that the city centre has a tourist information centre. How about in the FG Thomas shop on Surrey Street that closed down last year. It really is shocking that a city the size of Sheffield has nowhere for visitors to pop into for help and information.

Please keep the pressure on the council. Things are definitely on the up but can be improved even further.
