Just a reply to a couple of issues raised by M Moss, S5, regarding Doncaster/Sheffield airport.

First of all the sale of Sheffield airport for £1 is fairly standard practice as the buyer in such circumstances buys the debts along with everything else.

When Peel Holdings were trying to open an international airport in Doncaster many things were involved, for instance Airtours who were a large airline at the time, categorically stated that they did not have passenger aircraft small enough to take off and land at Sheffield.

That should have been clear in the fact that the MOD selected Finningley in the first place for the obvious reasons of the surrounding terrain. They did similar ones up and down Britain for the same obvious reasons.

The airport now, as well as many passenger flights, has a large cargo handling facility, which in one way or another helps all of us.

Hence the need for road infrastructure improvements, which incidentally included money from the EU, you know those bad people who take all of our money!

At this present time the “owners” want to expand the business in the way of a “loan” and they are to match this with their own money.

“Your” money that you claim will be used is not the reality of how things work, and will not have any effect on the way hospitals etc. that you mention are funded.

There is no “vanity” factor involved in this project which has been voted no1 small airport on many occasions.

The word “progress” fits the bill.
