A shout-out for Sainsbury’s on The Moor. Being well into my 70s and with Christine having had a stem cell transplant and chemo late last year, it’s vital that I as carer and she as recuperating patient, stay virus free.

Online shopping is so booked up that it’s impractical and anyway, living in town, we have plenty of places to shop as long as it’s safe. So I was delighted when our daughter in Milton Keynes pointed out that Sainsbury’s on The Moor were opening for an hour on Thursday at 7am specifically for Old Codgers to shop. Suitably masked, gloved and covered up, I walked there yesterday and did a good grocery shop (nothing to excess and no toilet rolls!).

What I took to be the store manager was on the door, keeping it to pensioners only and telling everyone else they could come in at 8am. I thanked him profusely, because this means such a lot to people in our vulnerable position.

I know that others are following this lead, with M&S opening for the first hour, Mondays to Thursdays for pensioners.

This kind of information is really helpful in hopefully minimising the exposure of elderly people to the virus and causing problems for the NHS. Except that we never think of oursens as being elderly!

Keep up the good work disseminating important information.
