I feel sad at the way Christmas cards have veered away from the true meaning of Christmas, I have hardly come across any nativity scenes or the three wise men following their star, I’ve thought long and hard as to why this this should be, surely it can’t be because the religious cards may upset other faiths, I mean after all we tolerate their celebrations.

What has puppies, penguins, polar bears, teddy bears and bicycles up against post boxes got to do with Christ’s birthday? Absolutely nothing, so why do people put up with these kind of cards. Now I’m not saying that all Christmas cards should have a religious theme, that would be wrong. I don’t want to ram my beliefs down people’s throats, Dickensian scenes of carol singers, families shopping and Christmas trees richly decorated would be great but not animals that haven’t any connection to Christmas or the Nativity.

Religious Christmas cards are as rare as 11A buses, you hardly see them and when you do they bring much celebration among the populace. The sight of these rare 11A buses which are now on the endangered list, will be talked about to children and grandchildren while thay are sitting around their Xbox. “Tell me again, grandpapa, what did the 11A look like, what colour was it, did they bite?”

These questions will be asked down the generations. I have taken it upon myself to get Sir David Attenborough to visit the city to try and film this rare sight. I’m now scared of leaving this world without seeing another 11A bus.

In fact I’ll try to interest one of the Christmas card publishers to print this rarely seen bus on a series of cards. One could show skeletons slumped at a bus stop, or passengers, not customers I may add, sitting in groups sharing food and drink while waiting for the elusive 11A. The ladies and children would be unkempt and the men would have beards, all of them singing “Oh God in heaven on this day – why do we have to wait for the 11A”
